Jean Lorraine Chapel
Jean Lorraine Chapel, 80, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away in her home Tuesday, May 11, 2010, after a three year battle with cancer. She was born July 19, 1929, in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, to James Douglas Halverson and Edna Jean Langille. She married James L. Chapel, M.D., on Dec. 20, 1952, in Toronto, Ontario and moved to the United States in 1961.
She was an avid Missouri Tigers football fan and booster who attended Tiger football games come rain or shine for more than 40 years. Survivors include daughter, Michele Chapel of Long Beach, Calif.; and sons Dr. Dan Chapel of Phoenix and Dr. Howard Chapel and daughter-in-law Mary Kay Chapel of Chesterfield, Missouri. Also survived by sisters and brothers ....Geneva Fynn of Toronto, ON., Jeanne Edwards of Mahone Bay, NS. Shirley Langille, Marjorie Sorensen, Ken Halverson, Keith Halverson, Jack Halverson, George Halverson all of Tatamagouche, NS, Joyce Halverson of Truro, NS, Harold Halverson of New Minas, NS, Debra Halverson of Malagash, NS, June Mann of Bedford, NS and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-mother Peggy Jollimore,and sister Irene Core of Montreal, Quebec. She was the grandmother of Alex and Jack Chapel of Phoenix, and Lash, Brendan, Garrett and Mackenzie Chapel of Chesterfield. She was just back in Tatamagouche last summer to celebrate her 80th Birthday and say good bye to friends and family. She lived life to the fullest and fought bravely till her final day. She is loved greatly by her family and is truly missed by all she touched.
