Double play for hockey centre

Matthew Smith of Tatamagouche has won his second provincial hockey title in two years.
He won the Provincial Atom B Championship in 2009 playing centre for the Mike Smith coached Tatamagouche Titan Atom Bs, and this year he won an Atom AAA Provincial title with the Truro Bearcats of the Mainland Atom AAA League.
In Sydney Mines at Provincials, Smith was the game MVP of the semi-final game against Chebucto which the ’Cats won 4-2 putting them in the final against Bedford who the ’Cats defeated 3-2 in sudden victory overtime to win the title. Smith had a successful year in Truro placing 5th in team scoring while shutting down the opposition’s top players and was the only player to not receive a penalty throughout the year.
The youngster would like to thank all of those who supported his fundraising efforts and his play throughout the season.
