CoRDA launches new service to boost economy
The Colchester Regional Development Agency (CoRDA) is expecting to create more wealth by helping its member municipalities in recruiting and marketing key events. As a result, the agency has launched a new service known as Destination Colchester. Its newly-hired director is a familiar face with local and national experience in events management. “After an exhaustive search, we’ve hired Creston Rudolph, a former staff person who really impressed us with the projects he was working on in the past,” said CoRDA’s Executive Director Jo Ann Fewer in announcing the new service. Rudolph says he’s excited to rejoin the CoRDA staff in the newly-created position. He returns to CoRDA after spending the past two and a half years working in the private sector. In his new role, the 30-year-old Rudolph will be responsible for working with the three municipalities (Colchester County, Truro and Stewiacke) and local community groups in attracting major new events to the Colchester Region. In addition, he will work with existing community groups in providing support to events and projects that already exist. Fewer said Rudolph brings a great deal of passion and experience in event management to this new position. He will also be responsible for assisting with Community Development Projects in the region. Rudolph is very familiar with CoRDA’s initiatives of promoting economic development in the Truro-Colchester Region and forecasts a bright future in its ability to attract major national and international events. “The Colchester Region’s central location will be a key factor in attracting major events to the area,” he said. “The region has many centerpieces which make it an attractive location for any organization looking for a venue to hold an event. “The exciting possibility of a new Civic Centre in the region will only serve to increase the possibility of future events.”
